STUDENT RESOURCES

The Internet is a valuable educational tool for students. The sites listed below are known as "kid-friendly" sites. However, as students link from page to page, it is difficult to predict where they might end up. Please monitor your child's Internet use closely. Ninety Six Elementary does not endorse the use of chat rooms or other methods of exchanging personal information with others. Happy and safe surfing!

Investing for kids Think Quest site - This Web site is designed by kids for kids. It examines stocks, bonds, mutual funds and the like.  It teaches the principles of saving and investing. It also includes a stock game.

Scholastic's Weather Watch: Hurricanes - Discover the power and fury of these tropical storms - all about hurricanes, ask the expert, hurricane news, etc...

"EYE" of the Storm Web Quest  - This WebQuest will give the students an insight into the destructive forces of tornadoes and hurricanes. 

Earthquake WebQuest - Advanced webquest - includes great links to recent news, patterns and background information. Also has student and teacher directions available.

Volcano WebQuest - Will that Volcano Spoil our party? Has some good links and background in volcanoes.

Space -The Final Frontier" WebQuest - The student will be able to learn more about the Solar System: planets, astronauts, space clothing, other objects in
space.

"By Way of the Moon" WebQuest - students will analyze the space program in the 1960's in regard to its social, political, and economic effects. It will involve the language arts and science disciplines. It would be appropriate for middle school students but could be adapted for elementary.

hands-on activities.

Dinoland Webquest - a virtual prehistoric journey to Australia as a

Ask Jeeves - A human-powered search service that aims to direct you to the exact page that answers your question.

Northern Light - features a large index of the web, along with the ability to cluster documents by topic.
