Dear Sophomore and Junior Parents,

College Board will begin administering the new SAT.  We know you have questions about this new test.  Listed below are some of the ways we are addressing this new information.

• All 10^th and 11^th graders participated in the new version of the PSAT in October.  This test is lined up with the new SAT.
• PSAT scores should be here in December.  We will send scores home and students will receive their test booklets and an explanation of scores and test items.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to use their tests results to better prepare for the SAT.
• All 10^th and 11^th grade English teachers will administer Scorewrite, a sample SAT writing program to students before the March 2005 SAT date.
• Larry Mills, a noted SAT expert, will be here for a student workshop in April.  Students may sign up in March.  The costs will be approximately $35.
• Mr. Mills will also be conducting an in-service for teachers in February.
• Students are practicing a new SAT sample question daily in their classes.

Juniors enrolled in courses that CollegeBoard recommends before taking the SAT will receive a packet of information on the new version of the SAT.  Additional packets will be available in the Guidance Department.

CollegeBoard also has an excellent website (www.collegeboard.com) that has information for parents and students.  Please visit that site for practice questions and other SAT information.  This information is also posted on our school website at www.greenwood52.org, then click the NSHS icon.

College Planning Session

An informative college planning session including new SAT information will be held Monday, November 22^nd from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the NSHS Library.  Sophomore and Junior parents and students are invited to attend.
