What’s Happening?

Many students did not turn in their job shadowing forms on Friday.  Please remember that these have to be turned in this week and that you need to have transportation to the job site.  I had five students with no place to shadow.  I have talked with Mrs. Crawford and we’re attempting to find each of you the types of positions you requested.

Also, please remember to turn in permission forms for our upcoming trips to the Career Center and Piedmont Tech.  These forms are due Friday.

We will continue study of Chapter 11, “Sectionalism, States’ Rights, and Democracy” this week   Homework for Tuesday night will consist of writing a paragraph using the specified terms on p. 294 about the growing differences between the North and South. It is important that students understand how these differences contributed to sectionalism and, eventually, to the South seceding from the Union. We will conclude this chapter on Friday with a test.

Randomly selected students from the eighth grade will be participating in NAEP testing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.  The tests will begin at 8:30 on these mornings and students will have donuts and juice before reporting to their testing sites.  For those not participating in the testing, you will receive assigned classrooms for those times.  Mrs. Brown and Mr. Owings will be administering the tests.  Mrs. Price, Ms. Turner, and I will be holding special classes for those not testing.  I will have specially prepared lessons for my classes during this time.

STAR STUDENT

Addison Shealy has been chosen as my “Star Student” this week.  Addison is a conscientious student and a pleasant and affable young man.  He always has a smile on his face and he always participates in class discussions.  Addison Hunter Shealy was born in Greenwood on January 28, 2007 and so I’m pleased to name him a “star student” on his birthday!  Addison has an older sister, Anna and lists as his best friends Rory, Matthew, Elliott, and Jerry. His favorite subject is Social Studies and his least favorite is ELA.  He enjoys listening to the rap music of T.
