Initial evaluation involves the use of a variety of assessment tools and strategies to gather functional, developmental, and academic information. Evaluation teams comprised of teachers, parents, and administrators (at a minimum) determine placements according to state/federal guidelines and to what extent students who qualify for special needs are able to learn effectively, participate, and progress in the general curriculum.
